The final hearing of the PIL against the economic blockade imposed on NH 39 and NH 53 pending with the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench will be held on August 21 in the court of Chief Justice Mandal Bhimrao Lokur of Gauhati High Court.
An official source said, the Gauhati High Court has fixed the final hearing of the case, filed as PIL (Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by one Rajkumar Jaysana of Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leirak through his counsel advocate Maibam Hemchandra, on August 21 next.
While fixing the date for final hearing, the court also directed the respondent of the PIL,Union government and other to submit action taken report against the economic blockade and allow undisturbed safe passage of vehicles on both the highway, NH-39 and NH-53 .
Mention may be made that final hearing of the case is to be conducted while the two organisations, ANSAM and UNC, had suspended the economic blockade on the highways "temporarily" with a threatened to resume the same if their demands are fulfilled by the government of India and Manipur.
The deadline served in the ultimatum of the UNC recently submitted has also expired.
The latest development in the activities of the two organisations related with the economic blockade will be tabled in the court on the day of hearing, the source said.
It is also pertinent to mention here that in connection with the case, state police department, unable to cause arrest and produce presidents of the two organisations, declared wanted to the two leaders.
