The 3rd foundation day of Nimita Devi Nritya Ashram (NDNA) will be held tomorrow at tomorrow at 9.30 am at Kalimai Mandap near 1st MR campus here.
The day-long function will have various cultural programmes including martial arts show and talks to be delivered by eminent gurus and experts.
Chief Whip, Government of Manipur, MLA T Mangibabu will be the chief guest at the function.
President of NDNA, RK Tarachand will preside and Padmashree N Khelchandra, Addl Director General of Police, Manipur, N Shyamananda, IPS, DC Imphal West, K Radhakumar, IAS and DC Imphal East, M Lakshmikumar, IAS will be the guests of honour.
The function will have two sessions after inauguration�one in the morning and the other after lunch.
The morning session will have lectures on various topics.
Padmashree G Gourakishore Sharma will speak on "Co-relation of Manipur Dance and Meitei Martial Arts", Padmashree S Thanil will speak on "Origin of Pung and its movement", Smt E Indira will speak on "Origin of Lai Haraoba and Its Dance Movement", Smt Gambhini Devi will speak on "Origin and Movement of Khubak Eshei", L Lakpati, Guru JNMDA (Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee) will speak on "Origin and Movement of Nat Sankirtan" and Padmashree Ksh Thouranishabi will speak on "Origin of Raas Lila and Its Movement".
In the afternoon session, Sh Sushma Devi, a student of NDNA (Young Talent Scholarship holder CCRT, Govt of INdia) will present Das Avatar.
Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Taa cultural Association will present martial arts.
The other programmes being presented include Pung by Shri Shri Govindaji Nat Sankirtana Academy, Lai Haraoba by the students of Smt E Indira Devi, Khubak Eeshei by Smt Kh Yaimabi Devi & her party, Nat Sankirtan by L Lakpati & his party, and lastly, performance of Basanta Raas by the students of NDNA.
It may be recalled here that NDNA was established on August 2, 2007.Smt Nimita was a product of Guru Amubi Nritya Vidyalaya.
She joined Manipuri Jagoi Marup as an artiste.
She had performed about 2500 cultural programmes in India and abroad, She left Jagoi Marup & established an institute under the banner Nimita Devi Nritya Ashram.
Since its inception, NDNA had presented 53 performances at important functions attended by Union Ministers & other dignitaries.
The aim and object of the celebration of NDNA foundation are to propagate Manipuri arts & culture and also to enable future generation to imbibe Manipuri culture.
The papers presented by exponents of Manipuri culture will be published in the form of books.
