Imphal, October 27 2008:
Stepping up counter insurgency measures in the backdrop of the Ragailong bomb blast and the attack at the CM's residence as well as ahead of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba, police today conducted search operations at Thangal bazar, Paona bazar, Babupara, Electricity office complex and PWD complex and rounded up three suspects for further questioning.

During the operation hundreds of youths were detained, quizzed and their identities established.
SDPO of Imphal West police, AK Jhalajit said that three youths have been detained and their antecedents probed.
The three youths were subsequently released later in the day.
The operations were launched during the peak hours when the market places were teeming with shoppers ahead of the two said festivals.
While Diwali will be celebrated tomorrow, Ningol Chakkouba, one of the biggest festivals of Manipur falls on October 31 .
The following day, that is November 1, the Kuki-Chin-Mizo communities will celebrate their biggest harvest festival, the Kut festival.
SSP of Imphal West said that the police are on the alert to tackle any eventualities.
