Hospitals with the capacity of 50 beds would be constructed at all district HQs of the State including Jiribam.
This was disclosed by the Health and Family Welfare Minister L Nandakumar while addressing the inaugural function of a hospital at Moreh.
He further assured to appoint all requisite medical officers and staff in Govt medical centres.
The hospital at Moreh was constructed under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) at the cost of Rs 1.26 crores.
The hospital inaugurated today is a part of the Govt programme to build a 50 bedded hospital at every district HQs including Jiribam, stated Nandakumar.
He further informed that the locations for the proposed hospitals include Chandel, Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong and Jiribam.
Counting this one at Moreh, Chandel would have two hospitals but this one at Moreh was built taking into account of the necessity of medical facilities at the border town, he said.
He further appealed to the people of Moreh to take responsibility of the hospital and to co-operate with its doctors and staff.
Disclosing that about 150 additional doctors are required in several hospitals and health centres of the State, Nandakumar assured to appoint within a short period the required doctors including those of Moreh hospital.
In today's function graced by Nandakumar as chief guest, Chairman of Tribal Development Corporation, MLA DK Korungthang presided as functional president.
MLA Korungthang in his address, pledged to provide the requisite facilities lacking in the new hospital within a short period while appealing to the people to help the State physically and mentally.
The construction of this hospital commenced on Sept 20, 1998 with the laying of foundation stone by the then Health Minister, Morung Makunga.
