Officiating Commander of 9 Sector Assam Rifles and Additional DIG Col Promit Roy has appealed to all the people for extending their cooperation and support to the security forces in restoring peace and normalcy so that development could take place in the State.
Speaking at the inaugural function of a community hall at Tentha Khunou constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1 lakhs under the Military Civic Action Project of 28 Assam Rifles, Thoubal today, Col Roy said there is no peace in the State due to militancy.
This is led to underdevelopment of the State in comparison to other States.
It has been the endeavour of the Assam Rifles to take up developmental projects in area which are still underdeveloped and would continue to do so, he added.
MLA Dr M Nara Singh, who presided over the function, appreciated the assistance given by 28 Assam Rifles located at Thoubal, and said today is a memorable day for the people of Tentha Khunou.
The MLA further assured the gathering that the market shed at Tentha Khunou Bazar which has been laying incomplete for long due to paucity of fund would be completed with monetary assistance from his MLA Local Area Development Fund besides some other aid from Assam Rifles.
The Commandant of 28 Assam Rifles Col K Haridas was also present at the occasion.
Col Promit on behalf of the Assam Rifles presented construction materials worth Rs 1 lakhs for completion of the market shed at the occasion.
