Imphal, December 11 2008:
THE ALL Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) organised the 2nd Open State Level Invitation Boxing Championship for Men and Women as a part of its 3rd Foundation Day.
AMADA is organising the championship under the theme "Sanabana Drug-tagi Lapthokhanba Ngamgani Amadi Hakchang Fabana Lanni" under the aegis of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) at BASU ground Khangabok.
Y Surchandra, MLA Kakching Assembly Constituency, K Meghach-andra, MLA Wangkhem Assembly Constituency, L Tiken, Director SAI NERC, Khoibi Salam, Secretary MABA graced the function as chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
Ph Phoni, Secretary General, AMADA HQ presided over the function.
Boxer Th Nanao and M Modhusudon, Secretary BASU Khangabok were among the special invitees.
Giving the keynote address, Th Rosan Luwang said that AMADA was founded on December 20, 2005 to fight against the uses of drugs and intoxicants.
In his speech, he said that AMADA is organising the championship under the sponsorship of MVHA Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Kripa Society Lalambung, Care Foundation New Checkon and MNP Yaiskul.
Amada is developing many future sports person as a part of its Sports De-velopment Mission.
In the recent 36th Junior Mr Manipur Contest Potsangbam Nandajit had bagged the Junior Mr Manipur title in the 60 kg category.
In today's quarter final bout of men's 48 kgM Amarjit, Md Amar, S Sanayai and L Naobakumar of ELC won.
Sh Sarjubala of IWBA, N Nanao of KYDC and S Jasmine won their respective bout in the women's 46 kg quarter final.
W Galena of IWBA, Ch Bimola of AMADA and Th Jinimax of ELC won their bout in the quarter final round of women's 48 kg category.
L Thanghaibi won the quarter final bout of women's 50 kg category.
G Mithun Sharma of IWBA and H Briten of KABA won the quarter final bout of men's 54 kg category.
