Imphal, December 11 2008: AT LEAST three suspected undergrounds gunned down by Thoubal police commandos within 45 minutes at separate places in Thoubal district in a joint operations with Assam Rifles this late evening and recovered weapons and ammunitions.

Two of the three suspects were gunned down by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 34 Assam Rifles near a foot hill at Yerumching under Thoubal police station at around 5.30 pm while the other one killed a spot bordering between Heirok and Wangjing by the Thoubal police commandos under the same police station at around 6.25 pm, police reports said.

Police recovered a 9mm pistol loaded with four live rounds, a country made stand carbine with a magazine filled with four live rounds, a hand grenade from the slain suspects at Yerumching.

Police suspected them to be members of a Muslim base underground group.

The other one killed by the police commandos is suspected to be a cadre of the KCP (MC).

A 9 mm pistol from him, the police report said.

Meanwhile, Imphal police commandos nabbed two cadres of the KCP(MC) Wanglen Khuman group including one who also swerved as rifleman in the Manipur Rifles yesterday at around 6.30 pm from JN Hospital last gate, Porompat with the seizure of a motorcycle MN05-0628 (Bajaj Pulsar brand) and an identity card.

The nabbed members were identified as Thingujam Bijen (25) son of Th Shamu of Bashikhong Mamang Leikai currently residing at New Checkon Imphal east who is a servicing as rifleman in 5th MR under rifleman no.05066448 and Sorokhaibam Anand (22) son of Ibesana of Sekmaijin Khunou at present residing at New Checkon.

A statement of the SP, Imphal west said that both were involved in the bomb blast at NRL oil pump, Sagolband at 6.30 pm on December 1 last.

Two persons who identified themselves to be informers of Assam Rifles and police commandos have also been nabbed by the personnel of the 7th MR detailing as house guard cum security escort of the FCS minister Y Erabot today while trying to steal away a motorcycle.

They were identified as Oinam Joysanker (28) son of Joychandra of Soibam Leikai and Thingujam Ingocha (25) son of Ibobi of Kongpal Chanam Leikai.

They were nabbed from Porompat Super Market area with a 9mm pistol loaded with two live rounds and a toy gun.

The apprehended persons during interrogation have reportedly claimed that with the information provided by them Assam Rifles had able to arrest more than 10 PREPAK cadres.
