Imphal, December 11 2008:
THE PROSCRIBED PREPAK has offered revolutionary salute to the five Red Army-men who were killed in an incident that happened around 8.45 pm of last Monday (Dec 8) at Langathel Chingjin road in Thoubal district.
Aheibam Angom, Secretary-in-charge, Department of Publiciy and Propaganda of PREPAK today stated in a press release that the statement given by Thoubal SP, Clay Khongsai that when the police tried to stop a Tata Dipper for checking, those who were in the truck opened fire at them, after which the police also retaliated, and in the ensuing shoot out, five persons were killed is completely unfounded.
The slain comrades had gone for an important work.
Some betrayers, who sought selfish gains, had secretly given the information about the movement of the group to the enemy, resulting in the unfortunate incident, the press release stated.
It further stated that the police claim that the incident was a great achievement of Thoubal police district commandos would turn out as instigating internecine killings amongst the brethren of the same blood.
If the comrades had fought with the commandos, there would be no guarantee that they would not have suffered casualties.
Late Private Thonglen and Private Eengba belonged to 27th batch.
Private Tomthinnganba was a Red Army man who had received military training in the 30th batch.
Late Khongnang and Koko were duteous and had worked with heart and soul for the party, Aheiba Angom stated.
