The three officials of the Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) who had taken abducted by suspected armed cadres of Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), which is a party to the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with the Government, from K Mongjang village in Churachandpur district yesterday morning while on their way to conduct a training programme on beekeeping were released safely during the night yesterday itself.

Though the three KVIB officials have declined to speak under what condition they were released as they had been allegedly abducted on ransom demand but were release without paying even a single paisa, unofficial sources said that they were released after the security forces pressurised the UG group within the parameters of the agreed ground rules of SoO.
The three abducted KVIB officials who were later released are Member Secretary Ningthoubam Brojen Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thongam Birgopal and Beekeeping Fieldman Chungkhosei Haokip.
In an exclusive interview with The Sangai Express, the three KVIB officials said they were abducted from K Mongjang village where they have gone to conduct a training programme for the villagers on beekeeping at around 11.15 am yesterday.
After being abducted, they were taken along the hill tract to a camp of the armed abductors located at a distance of about 30 kms from K Mongjang village.
There they were kept blindfolded and after offering the evening meal, they were finally set free at around 9 pm.
After walking some distance from the camp, they came across a team of Assam Rifles who took them to their camp at Tuibong.
They spend the night at the AR camp and early morning today they were escorted by a team of AR till Bishnupur PS from where they reached home.
