As the 1st Invitational Cash Prize Under 21 Basketball Tournament organised by Hi Fliers at DM College Basketball Court concluded today, Hi Fliers beat CYLC 78-60 to win the winner's title.
Hi Fliers' key player L Suraj scored 29 points against CYLC in the final match played today between the two team disappointing CYLC players.
The final match today was played in a very closely contested way.
However, the 29 points scored by Suraj helped host Hi Fliers to win the champion's title.
Another player of Hi Fliers, Rolen scored 12 points.
Markandev scored 11 points, Shanker scored 10 points, Agu scored eight points, Winieson scored six points and Robium scored two points.
On the other hand, S Bishwanath and N Jackson of CYLC scored 14 points.
Other teammates, M Anand scored 13 points, RK Pritam scored nine points, N Romeo scored six points and G Bijoykumar scored four points respectively.
Winner team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000 along with the champion's trophy.
While the runners up team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 3,000 along with the trophy.
ESU, Wangkhei won the best discipline team's award.
L Suraj of Hi Fliers got the titles of best player and top scorer of the final match.
He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000 .
President, Manipur Basketball Association, Th Radheshyam and Publisher, Sangai Express, Sapam Nishikanta graced the closing function as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Secreatry, MBA, RK Sanatomba was the president of the function.
Thongam Ibomcha of Khongnang Pheidekpi sponsored the tournament in the name of his late wife Thongam ongbi Bino.
