Imphal, July 19 2009:
The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has threatened to call total bandh in Tamenglong district demanding redressal of their grievances.
The students' body has demanded the suspension of the Executive Engineer of PWD, Tamenglong, A Biramani and SO of the same department, N Saratchandra for their alleged negligence in their duties.
A statement issued by the chairman of ZSUM, K Humalibou and information and publicity secretary of AZSU, Z Achabou Niumai alleged that the two PWD officials were never to be seen in their office since their posting in November last year, except on occasions when VIPs paid visits.
The statement also alleged that the two officials have also carried out officials work from their houses.
Observing that the negligence by higher officials is the reason why the most backward district of Manipur could not be developed, the statement warned that ZSUM will not remain a silent spectator to this while demanding the suspension of the two officials.
The zeliangrong students' body has also reminded the concerned authority to complete the Barak Bridge between Dekiuram and Katang villages under Tamei subdivision.
It also urged for the early completion of Marketing Shed at Tamei headquarters and demanded appropriate action against the SDO Tamei for the alleged irregularities.
It further warned to call total bandh in Tamenglong district if their demands are not fulfilled before July 27 .
