Imphal, July 19 2009:
The State Government has taken up necessary procedures to cover displaced families of the North Cachar Hills district conflict under the Central Government-sponsored NREGS project.
The Government decision, when implemented, intends to cover family members belonging to the Zeliangrong community, who are currently at relief centres in Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong, where they are taking shelter after their homes were ravaged by activists of the armed DHD (Jewel) outfit in the Assam district.
consequent to the State Government's decision, the Tamenglong district administration has recommended names of 343 persons for coverage under the NREGS.
