Tamenglong, July 19 2009:
The Zeliangrong Baudi, Tamenglong Zone today announced 48 hrs total bandh in Tamenglong district in protest against the State Cabinet decision taken on May 19 to deploy India Reserved Battalion and Manipur Police Commandos in the hill districts of Manipur starting from 5 am of July 20 till 5 am of July 22 .
Speaking to reporters, Damchuilung Kamei, Vice Chairman of ZB, Tamenglong warned the state government to immediately revoke the decision to deploy the IRB and Commandos in the hills districts.
If the state government fails to arrive at an amicable solution, the ZB, Tamenglong will launch further agitation and the consequences should be the responsibility of the SPF government, he said.
