Nagaland lost to a 10-man Assam team 3-0 but still advanced to the semifinal round of the North East Dr T Ao Memorial Football Tournament being played at Khuman Lampak Main stadium.
In the penultimate Group B match today, Assam raced to a commanding 3-0 lead within the first 21st minute and preserved the advantage till the end inspite losing Raju Konwar in the 70th minute for a second bookable offence.
The Assam goals were scored by Jayanta Basumatary (5th), Sibra Narzary (10th) and Manosh Manjit Chetia (21st).While Assam rounded off its group campaign with an unblemished record, Nagaland by virtue of its solitary goal win over Arunachal Pradesh and a goalless draw with Meghalaya in its earlier outings sealed the last four berth as Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh settled for a 1-1 draw in the other match played today.
Tyllilang Syiem converted a penalty at the hour to put Meghalaya ahead before Ganga Rimo restored parity with an 86th minute goal.
