Five officials of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) including two Assistant Engineers (AE) have been abducted by suspected KCP-MC cadres this morning.
The PHED officials were heading for Tadubi, Senapati in a jeep (Bolero) as an advance team for inauguration of a water supply scheme taken up there under NLCPR when they were abducted by the armed persons.
The water supply scheme was supposed to be inaugurated today with PHE Minister TN Haokip, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister DDThaisii and MLA K Raina as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

A police source informed that the PHED officials might have been abducted from Mayangkhang area, about 10 Kms away from Senapati Hqs between 7 am and 9 am .
However, the white colour Bolero jeep (MN01W/7847) in which the PHED officials were travelling have been recovered by police from Daili village.
Even as police have no idea regarding to which direction the armed persons have taken the PHED officials, an extensive manhunt has been launched to rescue the officials, informed the source.
Meanwhile, KCP-MC publicity and information secretary Paikhomba has claimed that the five PHED officials were pulled up by a special finance team of the outfit.
The five officials pulled up by a team led by special finance commander Leishemba Mangang have been handed over to Operation Mangal commander Sana.
The officials would be given due penalties openly if found guilty after a thorough trial.
The PHED officials were travelling along with four other vehicles including security forces.
Out of the five vehicles, party cadres singled out the particular vehicle in which the PHED officials were travelling and managed to nab them.
As for the security forces, they were let off as they too belong to the exploited class of fraternal class.
Paikhomba, through his press statement, further asked PHED authority to contact the party at the earliest.
