The Family of the Involuntarily Disappeareds' Association, Manipur (FIDAM) and other human rights and indigenous peoples' organisations of Manipur have thanked Amnesty International for writing a letter to the Union Home Minister of India, P Chi-dambaram in connection with the abduction and secret detention of Raj Kumar Meghen

Md Baniyamin, general secretary of FIDAM stated in a press release that according to a communication received from the South Asia team of Amnesty International, London, on November 26, the world body has pressed the Government of India to disclose RK Sana Yaima's current fate and whereabouts to his family.
The letter also urged that members of his family be allowed to visit him and to ensure that he has access to a lawyer of his choice and any medical treatment he may need.
He should be immediately released unless he is to be promptly charged with a cognisable criminal offence, remanded by an independent court and tried in proceedings which meet international standards of fairness and without resort to death penalty.
It should also be ensured that he has an effective opportunity at any time to exercise the right to takeproceedings before a court, in order that court may decide without delay on the lawfulness of his detention and order his release if the detention is not lawful.
Another letter is being sent to the Bangladesh government in this regard, the FIDAM said.
