With a view to strengthening the bond of friendship with the people of Manipur, troops of Assam Rifles, 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized various events in the Manipur Sangai Festival which is undergoing at Hapta Kangjei-bung, Imphal East at present.
Traditional "Malkham", pole acrobatics of Maharashtra, was shown by troops of 12 Maratha LI .
Personnel of 15 Assam Rifles presented a "Khukri dance" - the insignia of Assam Rifles, reflecting the sacrifices made by troops of Assam Rifles during the First World War, at the festival today.
28 AR organized Bhangra performance, the folk dance of Punjab.
All the three events organised by these units of 9 Sector, AR drew enormous applause and cheers.
The visitors were enthralled by this fusion of various cultures of India showcased exclusively for them.
CO12 Maratha LI, CO, 15 AR and CO, 28 AR also witnessed the shows along with troops and families of their respective battalions.
The event organized by units of 9 Sect AR has established the notion of Security Forces for the people and of the people, said a press release from the AR.
