Tamenglong district recorded its second consecutive win in as many matches in the under-14 category of the State Level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament being played as Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Imphal West and Bishnupur district teams also scored comfortable victories with the former defeating Chandel 2-0 and Bishnupur thrashing Jiribam 5-1.In Tamenglong�s solitary goal win over Senapati today the all important goal was scored by Namkinpou in the 27th minute.
The Imphal West goals against Chandel was scored by Ng Subash Singh in the 12th and 32nd minutes while the Bishnupur district boys whipped Jiribam through goals from Boychand (2nd, 34th), Manoj (11th, 36th) and Kikeshwor (38th).jiribam�s consolation goal was scored by Ratan in the 45th minute.
In another match in the same age group, Ukhrul pipped Imphal East 1-0 with K Kamgui netting the only goal in the 37th minute.
The under-17 matches also played today saw Bishnupur district rally to down Jiribam 2-1 and Thoubal edge past Imphal East 1-0 as kangpokpi and Chandel overcame Imphal West and Ukhrul respectively via tie-breakers.
The Bishnupur versus Jiribam tie saw the latter surge ahead in the 26th minute of play through Panganpao as N Krishnadas (55th) and L Herojit (60) found the mark for the Bishnupur district side.
thoubal district�s only goal against Imphal East was scored by M Roshan in the 50th minute.
With normal time between Kangpokpi and Imphal West remaining scoreless penalty shoot-out was applied to decide the winner in which out of five attempts each Paominsei Haokip, Mangminthang Haokip, Thangmiathang and Lalminhao Serto converted into goals compared to only L Bishesh, L Gunachandra and L Rojen managing to beat the Kangpokpi goal-tender.
In the Chandel versus Ukhrul shoot-out, HB Angnengham, D Velen and MS ningthan were successful while only G Gaichamei managed to score for the latter.
Normal period had ended with two sides locked 1-1 with HB Aquila opening the Chandel score in the 40th minute and K Patrick restoring parity for the latter three minutes later.
