MPP, NCP play minority card

With the election campaign of NCP candidate in Khangabok A/C formally launched today, NCP and MPP which is supporting the NCP candidate have appealed to the Khangabok people, particularly the Muslim community to live up to their responsibility in the interest of the minority community.
Briefing media persons at MPP office today, leaders of NCP and MPP declared that INC candidates will be defeated in both the constituencies for which by elections will be held on June 2.They also expressed their strong opposition to establishment of a Government in Manipur similar to the previous Government of Bihar.
MPP president Dr L Chandramani declared that the election campaign of NCP candidate in Khangabok A/C Md Qutub Ali was formally launched today under the twin banner of MPP and NCP.
He also pledged full support to the NCP candidate.
He reiterated that the MPP supports the NCP candidate in the interest of minority Muslims with a view to give the Muslim representatives a place in the Assembly (Opp bench).
Opposition leader and NCP president Radhabinod Koijam conveyed gratitude to MPP for its stand to sacrifice its candidate and to join the poll campaign openly for the NCP candidate.
Appealing to the Khangabok people, particularly the Muslim community to stand firm and united in order to give the minority representative a prominent place in the State Assembly, he stated that MPP and NCP would contest for the Khundrakpam A/C in friendly manner.
The unification of the two parties is essential in Khangabok A/C as both the parties have slim chance of winning the seat on their own, Radhabinod clarified.
Taking part in the briefing, MPP Legislature Wing leader O Joy noted that the by-election to Khangabok A/C is crucial for the opposition parties.
He also pledged unstinted support to the NCP candidate.
Stating that the two parties are working together as opposition parties, Joy justified the stance of MPP to support the NCP candidate.
As Sangaiyumpham people have been taking a major role in all the elections of Khangabok A/C, MPP is supporting the NCP candidate so as to give them certain benefits.
While calling upon the Muslim people to act keeping in mind the wish of the two parties, Joy appealed to the people not to betray their candidate.
Urging the Muslim people of Sangaiyumpham to unite, Joy asked them to exploit the opportunity to elect an MLA from Sangaiyumpham.
