Imphal, Aug 31:
The Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) have asked all the people coming from outside the State not contest elections in Manipur.
A statement issued by FREINDS noted that the economy of the State has already fallen into the hands of the outsiders while asking them to leave the politics of the State to the indigenous peoples.
Such a step to debar outsiders from contesting elections in Manipur has become inevitable to safe guard the interests and rights of indigenous peoples in view of the huge influx of outsiders overwhelming the State.
It further asked all the national parties and regional parties not to give tickets to the outsiders to contest elections in the State.
