Timely action by a medical team of 18 AR under doctor Assistant Commandant Atul Sharma not only provided emergency medical care to persons injured in a vehicle mishap but averted possible human casualty when the security unit switched off power supply in Saivom village area on Aug 29, said PRO IGAR (S).
A statement issued by the PRO today, said an Imphal-Moreh passenger bus (MN01/1394) with 12 passengers on board rammed into a high tension cable while negotiating a sharp turn with deflated tyre near the mentioned site.
The tyre burst after the vehicle accidentally came in contact with a power line at around 12 noon on the fateful day, said the PRO while adding that authority of the AR unit also conveyed information of the mishap to police station and electricity department of Tengnoupal.
The AR medical team rushed in and provided medical relief to the driver named as Amarjit Singh and his assistant Navas Khan both of whom received multiple burn injuries due to the electrocution.
Informing that no fatal casualty occurred in the incident, the PRO also said timely action taken by the unit to switch off the supply of electricity and administering medical aid averted a major disaster on NH-39.
