Imphal, Aug 31:
Consequent upon the efforts of Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Y Surchandra to get a Congress ticket for the forthcoming elections and subsequent support extended to him by some Congress workers of Kakching Block, the Kakching Block Congress Committee has split.
Alleging partisan treatment to the people of Kakching in development activities and schemes by misusing his position of being a DC with a view to create his own support base for the forthcoming elections, former Minister N Nimai has submitted a written complaint to the MPCC president.
The complaint said that the party workers have been demoralised by the electioneering activities of the State official who is not yet even a member of the Congress party.
Because of the anti-party activities of some members of the Kakching BCC, seven members of the BCC including its president have left the party, and as a result there has been a wide split among the Congress workers.
Even as new BCC was formed on August 24 MA Sattar Yumkhaibam as president, the MPCC president has not yet approved the new committee and Congress workers who have offered to resign have not been accepted which is serious confusion and split among the party workers.
It is reported that the MPCC has asked for a detailed report on the prevailing situation of Kakching BCC from the representatives concerned.
