Responding to the move of the Federal Party of Manipur to dissolve the party and to merge itself with MPP under certain conditions, a meeting of the MPP central committee held today accepted the conditions put up by FPM.
The dissolution of FPM yesterday was in accordance to the resolution adopted by the Preparatory Committee for the Unification of Regional Parties in Manipur on August 19.As per the resolution, all the constituent parties were instructed to dissolve the parties themselves.
The main conditions put forward by FPM for merger into MPP were suspension of the existing office bearers of MPP and its frontal organisations and distribution of the administrative work among the representatives of the constituent parties on equal terms.
Another condition was the permission to adopt the registration number, constitution, symbol and flag of MPP.
According to information received from MPP office today, the MPP central committee meeting presided by its president L Borajao made serious deliberations on the conditions laid by FPM.
Later the meeting welcome and hail the move of FPM to merge with MPP which is in total conformity with the decision of the Preparatory Committee to maintain the identity of MPP.
The central committee meeting also agreed to study the possibilities of accommodating FPM within the framework of MPP.
However, it is reported that before the conditions put up by FPM are implemented, the matter would be discussed in the meetings of the Preparatory Committee and the central committee.
Concerning the suspension of all office bearers of MPP and its frontal organisations including its president L Borajao as demanded by FPM, the matter is yet be discussed as there has been no written intimation in this regard till date.
It is said that the matter would be discussed on different levels including the Preparatory Committee once the official intimation is received.
In view of the encouraging progress towards unification of regional parties, the source remarked that a definite picture of the combined party would be visible soon.
