Imphal, Aug 31:
Intensifying its drive against drugs and alcohol, members of the All Manipur Anti-Drug Assn today seized 1800 strips of Spasmo-Proxyvon tablets from a PCO located near the BSF gate at Koirengei.
This is the biggest haul of SP tablets ever since AMADA started its drive and the consignment is estimated to be worth Rs 1.8 lakh in the market.
The PCO is run by one Phumdreimayum Hessam (22) son of Safaruddin of Top Khongnangkhong.
Hessam is a student at Liberal College and looks after the PCO during his spare time.
AMADA volunteers raided the PCO after Hessam returned from Kolkata today.
According to Hessam the SP tablets packed in two parcels were brought to the PCO by his elder brother, Saroz who said that it was gas stoves.
Since he was told that it was gas stove, he did not open it, said Hessam and added that the matter came to light only when AMADA volunteers came and search the parcels.
Inside the gas stoves were found the huge consignments of the tablets.
AMADA has warned all those involved to surrender to them soon as they know their identities now.
