Chief Minister Ibobi Singh left here today for Imphal after completing his 3-day official visit to New Delhi.
During his stay in Delhi, the Chief Minister met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Renuka Choudhury, Tribal Affairs and Development of North East Region Minister PR Kyndiah and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
While meeting with the Urban Development Minister on Monday last, the Chief Minister requested the Ministry to release fund for construction of Keishampat over bridge and construction of second Khwai Bridge for which detailed project reports had already been submitted to the Ministry long back.
The Union Minister suggested to incorporate the two projects with the City Development Plan of Imphal City to be taken up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
The Chief Minister informed the Manipur Information Centre that the State Government is preparing a City Development Plan by engaging a consultant appointed by the Centre.
The Plan focuses on the integrated development of urban infrastructure and services with special emphasis on provision of basic services to the urban poor, including housing, water supply, sanitation etc., said the Chief Minister.
Mention may be made that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh launched the prestigious Rs one lakh crore Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission on December 3 last year, which would cover about 60 cities with a million plus population, all State capitals and some other cities considered important from religious, historical and tourist importance.
During the meeting with Renuka Choudhury on Tuesday, Manipur Chief Minister had requested the Ministry to open 4000 Anganwadi centres to cover the whole State.
The Chief Minister said he expected at least 3000 centres from the Centre.
The Chief Minister approached the Home Minister Shivraj Patil while meeting him on Tuesday to conduct the forthcoming Assembly election for Manipur at four different dates for free and fair election.
Describing the NH-150 from Churachandpur Town to Tuivai at ManipurMizoram junction which is 262 kms was not properly maintained for the last 8/10 years, the Manipur Chief Minister requested the Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee to provide the service of Border Road Organization for construction of the road to be funded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
