With a message of peace, love and unity, the Model English School, Sinakeithei, Ukhrul was celebrated on October 26 and 27.The inaugural celebration was graced by social worker Yamthong Haokip as chief guest and Sadar Hills Congress president Thangkam Lupheng as guest of honour, informed press release issued by the principal of the school.
Speaking on the occasion Yamthong Haokip exhorted the students to study with a clear vision and objective so as to groom themselves as competent and responsible citizens.
He also donated Rs 7000 to the School.
In his address, Thangkam Lupheng who was a former student of the School recalled of the hardships endured by the School during his school days, 13 years back due to the inability of the parents to pay school fees.
He appealed to the parents to give their best efforts for education of their children.
Lupheng also donated Rs 3000 towards the organisers of the Glory Day.
Addressing the celebration, principal of the School V Khamrang conveyed that the basic objective of celebrating the Glory Day was to nurture the latent talents of the students through various co-curricular activities like games and sports, literary items, cultural programmes etc.
He also acknowledged the benevolent gesture of MLA Dany Shaiza and Progress Asst RD/PR Biswajit Thongam for the contribution of Rs 10,000 and 3000 respectively for school reconstruction after it was damaged by storm and rain recently, added the release.
