The Information and Public Relation Day 2006 was observed at Tamenglong, Senapati and Ukhrul districts yesterday under the aegis of respective District Information Offices.
According to a DIPR release, the Tamenglong district observation was held with SDO (Tousem) Joseph Paolin and general Manager of DIC, Tamenglong N Gonmei as the chief guest and president respectively.
speaking on the occasion Joseph Paulin noted that in the context of the global scenario of rapid communication advancement those section of the society which are bereft of information on day to day events around the world indicates that the society had lagging far behind in the race for development.
he also expressed that observation of Information Day would lead to expeditious development in the movement for information advancement.
Delivering the presidential address, N Gonmei highlighted that compared to other North Eastern States, the information Department have numerous backlogs that need to be addressed.
At Senapati the observation participated by district level officials, public leaders and staffers of DIO, Senapati was held with Poumai Naga Union (Senapati) president Markson and chief executive officer of Fish Farmers� Development Association (Senapati) Lolii cha while at Churachandpur the occasion was graced by Editor of Sikhnieng daily Lalmingliana Tourel and Deputy Inspector (Schools) Priyokumar singh as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
Public leaders of the district, media personnel and senior citizens were among those who took part in the observation, added the DIPR release.
Information day was also observed at Fishery office complex, Phungreitang, Ukhrul with TS Shim reingam, DIO, Ukhrul and Zephyrin, DFO, Ukhrul as the chief guest and president respectively while John Pengmayung, chief editor The Lagacy was the guest of honour.
