Protesting the exchange of gun-fire between underground activists of two outfits in Molnoi Kuki village yesterday thereby creating fear and panic among the people, a mass sit-in-protest demonstration was staged at Pallel Bazar today.
The protest demonstration organised under the auspices of Ching-Tam Nupi Lup, Pallel Area was attended by a large number of people belonging to different communities like Meitei, Maring, Aimol, Chothe, Lamkang, Kuki, Nepali, etc.
Representatives of All Tribal Women's Organisation, Chandel and Indigenous Welfare Organisation also participated in the demonstration.
All the shops and other business establishment in and around Pallel Bazar remained closed and there was no vehicular traffic from Pallel to Chandel from 10.30 am to 3.15 pm today.
Later in the evening, a mass protest rally was taken out in different part of Pallel area with shouting of slogans decrying violent activities and endorsing peace and unity among the people.
The protestors also demanded clarification from all concerned on the yesterday's firing incident.
