Imphal, August 24 2009:
In a welcome development, the 'Chakka bandh' of the transporters in Manipur has been suspended immediately after they were given written assurances that their grievances and demands will be looked into by Chief Minister O Ibobi and the state transport minister.
The transport organisations in Manipur have been demanding the repairing of the two national highways leading to Manipur and to provide security for the transporters.
The transporters have started their agitation in the first week of August.
