Following monetary demands from four different UG groups, about 60 pharmacies located in the adjoining areas of JN Hospital have been shut down since yesterday.
The pharmacists also staged a protest sitting today.
According to the pharmacists who participated in the protest sitting near the eastern gate of the JN Hospital, there are about 60 pharmacies in the adjoining areas of JN Hospital.
While two UG groups are demanding Rs 300 each from these pharmacies per month, another UG group is demanding Rs 200 per month.
In addition, another faction belonging to the third group is also demanding Rs 5000 per annum, they disclosed.
One UG group asked the pharmacists to shut down their stores if they could not pay their demand yesterday.
But another group told the pharmacists to open their stores today.
They also conveyed their abject helplessness at the simultaneous monetary demands of the four UG groups.
