A State level officer would be soon appointed at the Sanjeevani, a grievance redressal cell of the ex-servicemen of the Assam Rifles in Manipur, located up to the north of the Hotel Imphal here at North AOC, IGAR (South) Maj General BK Chengapa, AVSM has announced.
Addressing an ex-servicemen rally organised by 39 Assam Rifles at Sanjeevani today, Chengapa said that the State level officer is to be appointed from 9 Sector.
Similar arrangements would also be made for appointment of officers at the district level to look after the complaints of the ex-servicemen living in far flung area.
However, complaint of ex-servicemen coming from other parts would also be accepted at the Sanjeevani.
The officer to be appointed would be available for meeting on every Wednesday.
To facilitate consultation on the medical needs of the ex-servicemen, a medical officer would also be deployed three days a week at the cell.
All these facilities would be made available to the ex-servicemen within 10 days from today, the IGAR (South) assured the ex-servicemen.
Fielding questions from the ex-servicemen, Chengapa said to look after the educational needs of children of ex-servicemen, the Assam Rifles has set up its own schools at Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi where the ex-servicemen can send their children.
There is also transport facilities of the schools which have class upto X, he said, adding that the Assam Rifles also organised excursion tours for children of ex-servicemen.
To see whether a rest room for ex-servicemen like the one at Guwahati can be set up at Dimapur, consultation would be held with the DG AR, the IGAR (S) assured the gathering of ex-servicemen numbering about 150.Moreover, to protect and maintain the memorials of the first and the Second World War located inside the Kangla, talks would be initiated with the State Government to find whether the Government would do the needful or the Assam Rifles would be allow to do so, the AR officer said.
Today's ex-servicemen rally was participated by Brigadier of 9 Sector PK Kayastha, Brigadier GS Sharma, Officiating Commandant of 39th Assam Rifles Lt Commandant V Abraham among other top AR officials.
A free medical camp for the participating ex-servicemen was also organised at the occasion.
