Imphal, March 03:
Along with the demand for naming of one of the three women markets in Khwairamband Bazar which are under construction after Rani Gaidinliu, Kabui Mothers' Association (KAMA) has placed various issues for the State Government for sympathetic consideration.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of Zeliangrong Naga Union here this afternoon, president of Kabui Mothers' Assn Kakom-lunglu Kamei observed that out of the three women markets being construction at Kwairamband Bazar namely Ima Market, New Market and Lakshmi Market, one of them should be named after Rani Gaidinliu.
Rani Gaidinliu was one of the brave and courageous Imas of Manipur.
Naming a market after this freedom fighter would help in promotion of communal harmony among the people of the State, she maintained.
Raising another point, Kakomlunglu Kamei said along with setting up a memorial of Rani Gaidinliu in Imphal city itself, the State Government should take up necessary measures for identification and development of the sacred sites of the various indigenous religious groups living in Manipur inside the Kangla instead of unnecessarily spending a huge amount of the sanctioned fund for development of Kangla on construction of temples which are not in any way related to the indigenous people of the State.
She also urged for inclusion of representatives who have thorough knowledge on the culture and tradition of the indigenous people as members in he Kangla Fort Board for proper identification of the sacred religious sites of the indigenous people.
