An investigation team of the proscribed KCP has pulled up a person who was allegedly trying to extort money by misusing the name of the outfit from a cement shop at Khoyathong today.
The alleged impostor identified as Elangbam Premjit alias Jack (25) s/o Elangbam Bhanu of Uyumpok Nongshum was paraded before mediapersons somewhere in Imphal East District before he was handed over to his family members after giving advice and stern warning against indulging in such activities which might tarnish the image of the outfit and mislead the people on the revolutionary movement.
Speaking at the occasion, a spokesperson of the investigation team of KCP informed that Premjit was pulled up while he was trying to extort money in the name of the outfit from a cement shop at Khoyathong this morning.
One mobile phone used by him has also been seized.
During the course of interrogation, it has been established that Premjit came to the cement shop today at the instruction of one Arubam Bikram s/o Arubam Mani of Uyumpok Nongshum.
On earlier occasions, Premjit had also collected around Rs 13,500 from the cement shops of Khoyathong area at the instruction of Bikram.
Out of the total amount extorted, Premjit took Rs 5000 and handed over the rest to Bikram, the spokesperson said, adding that since the involvement of Premjit is minimal, he would be handed over to his family members after giving proper advice.
The spokesperson has also issued stern warning that the outfit would not be able to forgive him if he is found indulging in such activities in future.
Premjit also accepted the charges levelled against him by the outfit and promised not to indulge in any activities that might tarnish the image of the outfit in particular and that of the revolutionary movement in general.
The spokesperson has also further asked the main accused Arubam Bikram to surrender to the outfit within sevaen days from today.
In case of failure Bikram should accept any punishment given to him by the party, the spokesperson said.
