Four individual involved in providing information leading to the arrest of PLA's Auxiliary Commander Captain Pishak were pulled up by RPF/PLA.
Of the four one woman died in the custody of the outfit.
After serious investigation into the case of providing information to police commandos leading to arrest of Captain Pishak on January 8, the four individual were pulled up by a team of the outfit's Auxiliary Group between February 21 and 23. Briefing mediapersons at a place in Churachandpur district today, a spokesman of the outfit's Communication and Publicity Department identified the apprehended individuals as Khundongbam Sangitcharan (37) of Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi Thokchom Leikai, Kangujam Maimu Devi of Okram Chuthek, presently staying near Hindu Hotel, Nagamapal, Kangujam Goroba of alias Pramokumar (21) of Okram Chuthek and Kangujam Sunil (24).In the morning of January 8, Maimu asked Goroba and Sunil if Captain Pishak came there (Khongman Okram Chuthek) to which the brothers (Goroba and Sunil) replied in positive.
Maimu immediately informed Sangitcharan through mobile phone who was closely associated with commandos.
When a commando arrived there, Maimu got into the bullet proof vehicle among the commandos.
After Pishak was picked up from a house from the neighbourhood of Goroba, Pishak was produced before Maimu to confirm his identity.
Pishak was taken away by the commandos only after Maimu confirmed his identity, said the spokesman quoting the statements of the apprehended individuals.
However, Maimu died in the outfit's custody yesterday due to some unknown ailments.
Even as the spokesman acknowledged some mistake on the part of the PLA cadres, he clarified that Maimu was not given capital punishment.
Condoling the death of Maimu, the spokesman on behalf of RPF shared the pain and grief of her family.
The corpse was handed over to family members, he mentioned.
Parading the three remaining culprits before media persons, they were allowed to talk with the reporters and to testify or deny the charges levelled against them.
During the talk, Sangitcharan who incidentally is the younger brother of Pishak disclosed that he schemed to get Pishak arrested in collusion with one commando Anand twice in July and December last year.
On the latest occasion, he was compelled by the family's desire to get Pishak settled as a married man.
Sangitcharan also pleaded to Anand to arrest Pishak without causing any casualty.
After four days of Pishak's arrest, Anand gave Sangitcharan Rs 70,000 to give to Maimu.
Of the amount, Rs 60,000 was given to Maimu while he took Rs 10,000.On the other hand, Maimu gave Rs 10,000 to Goroba.
As Maimu was a local sister-in-law of both Goroba and Sunil, they simply replied that Pishak was there when she enquired them.
Regarding Rs 10,000 Maimu gave to him, Goroba said that the amount was what she borrowed from him earlier.
Sangitcharan, Goroba and Sunil while confessing their parts, pledged that they would never undertake such activities.
They also said that they would accept whatever punishment given to them by RPF/PLA and the people if they ever indulge in such anti-party activities again.
