Imphal, February 25:
To protest against the failure of the State Government to ensure adequate power supply that has hit hard many people whose livelihood depends on small scale power-generated workshops in the State, Manipur Industries Union will be staging a Wakat Meepham tomorrow from 11 am to 4 pm at Keishampat Junction.
Informing this in a statement, general secretary of Manipur Industries Union Chingtam Luwang said the Wakat Meepham is to be staged as one of the steps toward exerting pressure on the Government to formulate a power supply policy in Manipur.
The failure of the State Government to ensure adequate power supply to the small-scale power generated industries despite charging the minimum amount of the bill every month is nothing but exploitation of these industries and people running them, the statement said, while appealing to all the people and the workshop owners in particular to extend their support to the cause.
Manipur can never move ahead in the path of development until and unless adequate power supply is ensured, the statement added.
