Imphal, February 25:
Saying that the CBSE examination pattern in Manipur is quite sub-standard and the examinees have been allowed to copy in mass scale, DESAM has cautioned all concerned that Desam and the people may be constrained to take upon themselves the fate of CBSE schools in the State.
A statement issued by Desam said that if the same trend of examination system continues in the State, it may be compelled to declare pass certificates issued by CBSE invalid in the State.
It noted CBSE schools are being set up in Manipur with pure business motive.
Even teachers of such schools were involved in helping students resort to unfair means.
It alleged that NIOS and CBSE system of examinations have become almost synonymous.
As such, both these systems of schooling has turned out to be detrimental to the campaign for quality education, it said.
Even as stringent supervision is made against using unfair means in the exams conducted by BSEM and COHSEM, there has been no such supervision in CBSE exams, it contended.
Moreover, school syllabus prescribed by CBSE is against the initiative to implement a common syllabus in the State.
The common assumption that CBSE syllabus is more competitive and advantageous in seeking admission outside the State as students could score more marks under the CBSE examination system is a wrong notion, it said.
Nevertheless, Desam hailed the initiative to supervise CBSE exams by forming monitoring cell.
Desam also assured cooperation to the monitoring cell.
