Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) has requested the Director, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong not to allot the quota of 18 seats for the MBBS course in respect of candidates belonging to the North Eastern region including Sikkim to any other candidates from outside the North Eastern States.
A candidate named Dallika Dehury who is originally from the State of Orissa had appeared in the entrance test for admission into the MBBS course by claiming to be a resident of Thangal Bazar, Imphal West district, Manipur and she has been selected at Sl No 15 as per the result published recently, stated a letter sent by Sapamcha Jadumani, president, FREINDS to the director, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, Meghalaya.
When inquiry regarding the matter was made, it is established that her father, Ghanasyam Dehury was an employee of the industry department, government of Orissa who came to Manipur for business and has been residing at a rented house as he has no residence or plot of his own in Manipur, the letter stated further.
Therefore, allotting a seat which is meant for the candidates belonging to the North Eastern region to such a candidate will not be in the interest of the candidates belonging to North Eastern States, said the president of FREINDS, and requested that the said seat be allotted to a bonafied candidate belonging to the NE region including Sikkim by canceling the selection of Dallika Dehury.
