The tension among the villagers of Nongsum and Khamenlok villages in Imphal east arises after militants beaten up villagers cool down after negotiation among the village leaders today.
The tension was erupted when cadres of KLA beaten up villagers of Nongsum village after some valley based militant assault the villager of Khamenlok on August 30 last.
The negotiation was held between the leaders of Kuki village and Meetei village of the surrounding areas.
Speaking at a press conference held at Hueiyen Lanpao this late evening, chief of the Khamenlok village and leaders of the Nongsum village jointly declared that all the misunderstanding existed among the villagers have
been settled.
They have also decided to boycott any of the underground groups performing activities which amount to build up communal tensions among the villagers of different communities settling in the surrounding areas.
They also further appealed to all civil organizations not to make any statement with the incidents without knowing the ground reality of the situation.
The press conference was attended by chief og the Gobajang village, Hokhai Lupen, Khamenlok Areas Chief Association secretary Yangkhullen Toudang, chief of Aidijang village Poujalet toudang, Thongal Khull chief Letkhgoyang Toudang and general secretary of Nongsum Yakairol Leisem Youth Club Y Basanta etc.
