A team of representatives of United People�s Front, MAFYF and HRA have presented aid to the villagers of S Bongyang village in Sadar Hills, who allegedly suffered the excesses of the security forces compelling them to flee their homes in the aftermath of the December 20 gun-battle between the KLA and 19th Assam Rifles, during a simple function at the village yesterday.
UPF president Y Devadutta, HRA executive member Joykumar were presidium members of the function during which 25 blankets and 25 bags of rice were presented to the villagers.
Besides presentation of cultural dances by the village youths, a community feasting was also arranged re-affirming the bonding between the hill and the valley people.
Activists of Human Rights Law Network who were present at the occasion also assured legal assistance to the affected villagers.
