Imphal, January 02:
A patrol team of 13 Assam Rifles had intercepted a Mahindra jeep (MNA 2444) driven by Lingmingthang Baite, brother of captain Jetlee of KRA and seized 260 kgs of grade-I Ganja from near Somphung village of Saikul sub-division on December 29, 2005, according to a statement issued PRO HQ IGAR (S).
In a statement, the PRO informed that the arrested person was handed over OC of Saikul Police Station along with the seized vehicle and Ganja today.
The PRO further asserted that Ganja was being smuggled in the guise of celebrating the 6th Raising day of KRA and capt Jetlee pleaded with the Saikul Post Commander to free his brother and also indirectly tried to bribe the police officer, thereby exposing the involvement of the outfit in the lucrative business of Ganja with no concern for the Kuki population.
Medical aid: Ist Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Aishi village located along the International border on December 31 and provided medical aids to around 300 people.
