Imphal, January 02:
Even as Laitonjam Borajao has been declared elected president of MPP, the impasse of the poll is haunting the party with the non issuance of election certificate and the State Returning Officer, M Binodkumar doing the disappearing act.
In the presidential election held on December 31, L Borajao was proclaimed the 12th president of MPP by the SRO in addition to a similar statement put to mediapersons.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Borajao informed that though he was declared elected, the relevant certificate has not been given yet.
There has been no intimation as to why the certificate is being kept withheld and the SRO could not be contacted.
He lamented that the results of the election along with video recording of the proceedings which must be sent to the Election Commission of India by December 31 as per the instructions of the Commission, have not been sent till now.
The presidential election earlier scheduled on December 11 was belatedly held on December 31 following an imbroglio within the party and subsequent suspension of the same by the Court.
According to information received by the press, party president O Joy intimated to Borajao to take over the presidency of the party on January 7 on which day, the incumbent president would relinquish his post.
Meanwhile party workers expressed their suspicion that the non issuance of certificate and absence of the SRO without any contact are all evidence of a larger conspiracy.
