The All Naga Students� Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has strongly condemned the killing of IPS officer T Thangthuam on Dec 31 at Oinam bazar by the RPF/PLA when the police officer was on the way to Imphal from Churachandpur.
The Naga students� body said that such killings may not serve anything good in the multi-ethnic society like Manipur where the situation has become extremely sensitive.
ANSAM further expressed concerned over the IGP (Intelligence) killing and condoled the bereaved family members of the IGP.
Meanwhile, five hill based social organisations today demanded the reason as to why IGP T Thangthuam had been killed.
The Movement for Tribal Peoples Rights, Manipur (MTPRM), Sardar Hills Youth Union (SHYU), All Colleges Tribal Students Organisation, Manipur (ACTSOM), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Zeliangrong Youth Front while strongly condemning the killing of the IGP, have stated that there had been something fishy going on in the killing.
The five organisations demanded a probe with regard to the IGP killing incident.
The joint statement of the five organisations signed by ML Haokip of the ACTSOM, Ramhaoleng of the TKS, Titus Kamei of the ZYF, Ngamlen Haokip of the SHYU and AS Johnson of the MTPRM demanded from the killers of T Thangthuam that reason should be furnished for the reason regarding the killing within few days time.
The five hill organisations also shared the griefs and pains of the family of the late IGP, said the joint statement.
Death condoled: Imphal-Churachandpur Bus Owners and Workers Association has condoled the death of IGP (Intelligence) T Thangthuam during a condolence meeting today.
All those who were present at the occasion observed two minutes silence as mark of respect and prayed for peaceful repose of the departed soul in its heavenly abode.
Informing this in a statement, the Association secretary A Helen Singh asserted that all the commercial vehicles plying along Imphal-Churachandpur route had been ceased after some of the anti-social elements damaged 7/8 buses in the aftermath of the killing the police officer.
