The State library authorities have requested the Raja Rammohan Roy Foundation Kolkata for increase in the latter's matching share from Rs 45 lakhs to Rs one crore as a special case for restoration of the gutted assets of the State Central Library.
Art and Culture Commission P Bhorot who is currently putting up at Kolkata has requested the foundation on the matter, a highly placed source in the State Library told The Sangai Express.
The move comes close on the heels of the State Library Planning Committee's decision to request for more funds from the Raja Rammohan Roy Foundation during a meeting held on April 29 with Art and Culture Minister Ph Parijat in the chair.
Member present at the meeting while resolving to request the State Planning and Finance Dept for release of adequate fund for purchase of assets of the brunt down library also resolved to submit a detailed report for purchase of adequate furniture such as book shelves, book case, steel almirah, reader's able, table, photostat machine, computers etc to the Govt.The meeting was attended by P Bharat, K Sobita Devi, Joint Director Art and Culture, L Badalkumar under secretary (finance), Dr N Giridhari Singh Senior Librarian (RIMS) and H Devendro Singh Chief Librarian State Central Library.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh has today donated a sum of Rs 1000 for re establishing the Library.
