Chief Minister O Ibobi formally inaugurated a 33/11 KV Power Sub-Station at Tolloi in Ukhrul district today.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the inauguration of the Power Station has been delayed due to technical problems and financial crunch.
It may be noted here that the 33/11 KV Power Sub-Station with an installed capacity of providing electricity to 13 neighbouring villages was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 198 lakhs in 1991, but was commissioned formally only today, although it has been functioning since 1999.The Power Station was set up as part of the Central Government�s programme of Rural Electrification and Distribution System Model Down to the village level.
The Chief Minister said that Manipur comprises of both the hill and valley area, and equal development of both is essential.
Highlighting some of the development programmes being taken up in Ukhrul district, Ibobi said that construction/repairing of Ukhrul-Tolloi road has been started with funding from NEC.
He also informed that a Block Development would soon be set up in Tolloi after consulting with the local leaders.
The Chief Minister further gave instruction to the officials who accompanied him during the visit for taking up measures to address the problems related to health, education and water supply of the people.
Ibobi also presented 20 Red shawls, 10 footballs, 10 volleyballs and 5 Petromax to the villagers in reciprocation to the honour given by the Tolloi Students� Union and District Congress Committee members who felicitated the Chief Minister and his Ministerial colleagues with one traditional shawl each.
Power Minister Gaikhangam, Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa, MLA A Aza and MLA RK Thekho were also present at the occasion.
