The Sanskriti Pratishthan today presented the 2010 Sankriti award to five eminent personalities in the field of Literature, Journalism, Art, Dance and Social achievement in the age group of 25 � 35 years.
Thoudam Netrajit Singh from Lamsang, Imphal West was amongst the recipients bagging the award for Literature .
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50, 000 and a citation.
At the sidelines of the ceremony, Netrajit told this correspondent that this has come as Manipuri is included in the 8th schedule.
Receiving such an award "is a challenge for more contribution and hard work" said the poet, who was affected by Parkinson's Disease .
Netrajit began to write poems at a young age on contemporary Manipur, human rights and peace.
Stating that Manipuri literature is progressing, Netrajit said "our scholars have high standard" .
"Imphal Sahar" his first published poem in 1995 gave him recognition.
Presently Netrajit is working on his next 40 � 50 collection of poem, which is yet to be titled.
He shared one of his poem "Angangba Manipur' to the August gathering after receiving his award.
The award was presented by Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi Shri Ashok Vajpayi.
Other eminent recipients include � Anahita Mikherji for Journalism, Orajakta Potnis for Art , Kapila Venu for Dance and Stree Survivor India for Social Achievement.
