In contrast to the earlier announcement of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh that a 100 bedded hospital each will be constructed at the five hill districts and Jiribam sub-division under funding from the Development of North East Region (Doner), the hospital will now have only 50 beds each.
According to the source, the hill districts where the hospitals are to be constructed along with estimated cost are Senapati (Rs 26.88 crore), Ukhrul (26.18 crore), Chandel (Rs26.63 cr), Tamenglong (Rs 24.46), Churachandpur (Rs 24.71 cr) and Jiribam sub-division (Rs 30.67 cr).
In addition to the existing number of beds at JN Hospital, another 100 would be added to it with the casualty ward getting 50 beds, informed the source.
The source further stated that DONER would provide the State Power Department with an amount of Rs 17.237 crore to electrify 60 villages under the rural area electrification programme.
DONER will also assist in constructions/repairing of bridges at Lamlong (Rs 4.02 crore), Keishamthong (Rs 2.782 cr), Khuga-Kumbi (Rs 3.359 cr), Leisangthem Bazar in Thoubal district (Rs 3.843 cr), Irong Ichin-Thoubal (Rs 3.843 cr) and Thoubal Haokha (Rs 3.843), said the source.
The NE Department will also sanction a fund amount of Rs 10.65 crores to Department of Youth Affairs and Sports for leveling and construction of sports complexes at Tangkhul Long Ground and at Mission Compound in the same district.
