Though Manipur is rightly considered as one of the sports giants in the country, the State Youth Affairs and Sports Department has been caught in a vortex of controversy, with the latest slur being casts on seven employees including two coaches, of having made their way into the Department with fake certificates.
What is more, the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur has also detected the discrepancies in the certificates submitted by the said employees.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express a well placed source said that the BSEM has intimated to the YAS Department that seven employees including two coaches have gained employment through fake matric certificates.
The latest slur on the Department has come about even as there is still a raging controversy over nine employees of YAS including a high ranking official who are alleged to have been appointed through fake certificates.
This issue had even rocked the State Assembly.
The employees with fake certificates include one cycling coach, one handball coach, three physical education instructors and two LDCs.
Details of the fake certificates have been submitted by the BSEM to the Youth Affairs and Sports Department a few days back.
Based on the reports and findings of the BSEM, the YAS authority is set to conduct a departmental inquiry against all those named, said the source adding that the statements of the said employees will soon be recorded.
Even though the YAS Department had earlier been rocked by allegations fake certificates against nine employees including a high ranking official, no action has yet been taken up, added the source.
The controversy had even rocked the State Assembly.
