Judicial Magistrate first class (JMIC) Imphal has today remanded one Mangisana, accused of indulging in illegal monetary collection masquerading as a scribe to police custody till June 14.Mangisana was caught by AMWJU members yesterday after he was found collecting money from the public on the pretext of celebrating the yearly anniversary of an unregistered monthly publication Nongpokthong of which he is said to be the editor and publisher.
He is also said to have tarnished the image of the State journalist by posing himself as a member of the Press Council of India.
After catching Mangisana in the act, AMWJU president W Shyamjai lodged a complaint on the matter with the police and subsequently the city police arrested him.
