However, educational institutions in the specified area would be exempted from the agitation programme.
The meeting was preceded by a protest rally, against the alleged fake encounter killing of A Brajamani, from Taothang Lamkhai upto Lamshang under the joint aegis of the Apunba Lup and the JAC.
Other resolutions adopted at the public congregation include pledging support to the bandh call as well as sustain agitation for repealing of the controversial AFSPA 1958. Earlier, the protestors marched with slogans condemning slaying of civilians, demanding removal of the draconian Act and appropriate punitive action against those involved in the killing of Brajamani.
banners/placards highlighting Brajamani's innocence and calls for peace in addition to accusing security forces (Cdos) of indulging in fake killings and questioning whether police commandos are terrorists were also held by the protestors.
Police commandos had claimed to have slain Brajamani in an encounter at Khoyathong area on Nov 18 evening which was however opposed by the victim's family insisting that the 30 year old was picked up from Lamshang area by unidentified persons an hour before the claimed encounter.
