Imphal, November 25:
The NSCN-IM has alleged that the abortive bid on the life of Goa Governor and former Nagaland Chief Minister S C Jamir was stage managed.
Denying its involvement in the incident, the NSCN-IM in a statement issued by the group's ministry of information and publicity alleged the attack was "a prelude to the dirty election campaign by Jamir under the shadow of top level security cover in order to gain the sympathy of the people across the State and in favour of the Congress party".
The NSCN-IM said the incident was an attempt by Jamir to hoodwink the Nagas in order to serve his own election interest.
The faction said the threat perception on Jamir's life and subsequent top security arrangements for him had enabled the Governor to cleverly prepare the ground for free-wheeling movement to campaign during the forthcoming general election in the State, expected in February 2008.An abortive attempt was made on Jamir's life by unidentified assailants yesterday in Mokokchung district.
This was the fourth attempt on Jamir's life in Nagaland.
